Have the Sansui checked by a technician to make sure it is healthy and then buy some speakers (pretty near any speaker) and use the volume control with restraint.

Josh,

Power doesn't kill speakers, distortion kills them.

You probably drove the amp too hard, and it clipped, causing distortion and blowing your speakers.

Getting a higher rated speaker won't help. Trust me.

Getting a more sensitive speaker WILL help.
But dude, loud enough is loud enough, right?

That amp is not made to deliver current, but voltage is fine.

Klipch speakers.

Sorry for being a total noob but any model will work thats 200 watts? i don't know much on this kind of stuff all i know is i like loud distortion free music with punchy bass and lots of treble.

Any suggestions on speakers for $50-$300 for a pair or each? That will work with my sansui stereo and a sansui SE-7 eq? So could you guys suggest a brand and model you would recommend?

EDIT: Sir putt said: "Power doesn't kill speakers, distortion kills them." could using the eq hav cause this to blown my speakers?

Again, almost any speaker that you like the sound of will work. The Sansui has enough power to drive most speakers. I probably wouldn't buy Dynaudio or Thiel but there are more brands out there that will work than not. Cerwin Vega was suggested, I believe, because the perception here is that you want to play music loud without a whole lot of consideration to sound quality...others will chime in if I'm wrong.

I had a much lower powered Sansui which drove my 4 ohm B&W's just fine.

so i would want to invest in something like this? http://www.topdjgear.com/ceveprost153.html i also wanted to ask a question is that the price for one or for two? I would like some 15's i have been trying to replace my sansui SP-x9700 speaakers they work fine but, one of the 15's gots a large hole in the cone and the little tweeters are all ripped and blown and the other midrange and woofer is pushed in (bought the system like that) so i want to replace 15's with 15's plus the speaker system gots no bass what so ever. So i have been usig a cheap stereo i got from a thrift store with some car woofers for bass

Because we would then expect service from admins and moderators and perhaps rules of civility. I am a subscriber on another site and feel it is money well spent. Even though I have as many people that I respect and enjoy here I wouldn't give .02 for this site. Not as it is.

that was my point... I would be willing to pay for the site membership if and only if...

a) limit threads like this one (how many people are going to pay to post it?)

b) have an actual moderator (or moderators)

c) limit spam

d) the site was cleaned up

e) all of the above was in place before we were required to pay for it, and we could plainly see that it was working.

I have a membership over at another forum and use it from time to time, most of the time I am here.

I agree with you that I would not do it if it was left the way it is though.

Brian will get around to here after cleaning up the toxic waste depositories in other departments, I am sure.

Let the Admin run his business and shop where y'all will.

We just continue increasing the civility with each post that ends with

Cheers!
