I have a Bose Lifestyle 8 series and there is no sound coming from the system at all. The tuner appears to be working since it turns on and changes inputs per the remote but no sound. Bose wants $225 to service it and I cannot find a local repair shop that will handle it. Bose tells me that there can be no substitution for the subwoofer module but I have found mentions on Craigs List that suggest that the series 8 can use a series 9, 12, 25 or 30 subwoofer. Other series subwoofers are for sale on Craigs List as well as ebay. What is your suggestion for repairing or replacing?
Thanks! (I do not know much about electronics but it seems that a fuse or something like that, which might be an easy repair, shouldn't require such an expensive solution as sending it back to Bose).
