hi, i am currently running a pair of kef refrence 104 a/b speakers wih a quad 306, however , these are going to have to stay at home when i go to uni as they are 2 big, so am looking for something to run with the 306, bass response is not critical as i have a rel storm sub on the way so this will pad out the bass, the main problem is that the 306 is rated at 50w , i am looking at a pair of kef refrence 101 speakers, but these require 100w , would the 306 be able to drive these , or is it not worth trying, can anyone sujjest anything else? thanks , mark

Mark,
I do not think there is any speaker that requires 100 W.
If you mean the KEF 101

...then it will work well with the Quad 306. The quoted "100 W" is the "programme rating" meaning that the speaker will handle a real amplifier output up to 100 W, if required. Those are excellent speakers, but low sensitivity (81 dB) by today's standards. If you live in a student room it will be a great system, in my opinion. It is the sub that will annoy your neighbours, most likely....
