Dont get a Sony. They rate their power ratings even worse than mass market receivers, dont beleive me? Go here and scroll to the bottom see what S&V Magazine had to say.http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Hollow/3401/ratevsac.htm

"Our standard all-channels-driven power measurement could not be taken because, Sony tells us, the receiver was not designed to deliver full power to all channels simultaneously." Yes it applies to the ES series as well. In that price range I would receomend the Kenwood VR-7080 at ecost.com(344$us)Its a steal at that price.Crutchfield has the exact same model selling for 599$us!!.

Get the Harman Kardon 325Z from OneCall for $386. I almost got it but ended up buying a used NAD T742 on eBay.

You may be able to get an Onkyo 600 because the 601 is out or a Denon 1803 because the 1804 is out for that price. I agree with G.DawG. A final choice would be one of the Kenwoods.

Bigfish:
One more thing, You could also buy the harman kardon avr-125 refurb(a great receiver IMO)for 199.99 and spend the extra on speakers, which im sure most people on this forum would agree with.
