First of all, I want to say that I am very new to the whole AV world. I recently found myself thinking that I should start to build a decent (read mid-range) home theater system. After a very short amount of time, I found my selection narrowed down to the Onkyo 601 or the Denon 884. I offered $350.00 for the Denon and the salesperson accepted, is that a fair price, I have found it online for about $320.00. Similarly, what would be a good price for the Onkyo, I found it online for about $280.00. The system will be used in my bedroom for the time being, until I get my own place, so the space is limited, only about 12' by 15'.
On a similar note, I am also looking for speakers, but, due to limited cash flow, I might not be able to afford them right now. Any suggestions will be a big help. The main goal I have right now is to begin to build a decent system. My main use for the system will likely be to watch DVDs and TV.
