I have a Bose acoustimass speaker system and have recently purchased JBL E80. I use regular Kenwood surrond receivers VR-505 for both the systems. I use monster cables and clean power.
However I dont have the desired output. A friend suggested Marantz amps. Can someone give me suggestions on a decent model pleaseeee!!!

now that reciever is rated at 100w per channel at
all of it's channels but probably only puts out
say 50w a channel with all channels driven at the
same time.

and yes a better reciever be it a marrantz/harmon
kardon/pioneer elite or nad rated at say 100W per
channel with all channels driven will definatly
be cleaner and more power than you have now.

but!
it may not make the difference you are looking for
effiency in your speakers makes a much bigger difference
than the power of your amp.

now the jbl's are 91 sensativity so they should
perform well with a real 100watts and be plenty
loud.

so yes if they are not very loud a newer quality
reciever should give you what your looking for.

and out of the recivers i mentioned the ones that
are the most conservativly rated would be the nad
and harmon kardon.meaning that when they put the
power ratings on their stuff it's usually putting
out a little more than what they say.

now most of what i have said is generalization
and could be made into a longer post with more
details but this should point you in the right
direction!

Can anyone tell me the spec of the Marantz pm 40se amplifier - I've got 2 50w speakers and I just need to know that it'll be ok to drive them.
Thanks

Power output RMS 8ohm/4ohm = 50/70 W RMS per Channel (warning!!! 70W RMS is 110 W dynamic power)
THD at 8ohm rated output = 0,008%
Intermodulation distorsion = 0,008%
Damping factor = 100

Tuner/CD/Aux/Tape inputs:
Input sensitivity impedance = 150 mv/33Kohm
Signal to noise ratio (weighted) = 97 db
Frecuency response (-3db limitis) = 5Hz to 70Khz
Tone characteristic (100Hz & 10Khz)= +/- 6 db
Channel separation (1Khz / 10Khz) = >85 / 65 db
