We moved into a new house 6 years ago and the first thing i noticed was the 4 surround sound speakers set flush into the wall. I opened up the face plate to a tangled mess of wires freckled with white paint. Now, there are 4 speakers but there are only 5 wires. Now, I'm fairly well-versed in car audio and was expecting to see 8 wires? I took pictures and am attaching them to this post. My question is, could anyone point me in the right direction (or any direction at all!) as far as trying to get these things to work? I have no idea how i would even go about hooking them up to a reciever because the wires aren't labled whatsoever. Thanks in advance!
Yes, I'd expect to see 8 wires too. I guess there's a possibility (odd though it would be) that the original installer used coax cable and used the outer braided wire for the speaker return. This is unusual but would work, and would save you from having to reroute wires. I can't see the pictures so am only guessing here.
