Hi, I'm hoping someone could give me an idea of whats ailing my integrated amp.

The left channel is playing at lower volume than the right, and sounds distorted and muffled. When I turn the volume down all the way there is quite audible white noise coming out of the left channel.

Anyone keen to speculate what could have happened inside the amp?

thanks

B.

Sounds like it is damaged, B.

What is with your luck?

Swap speaks side to side, then cables.
Does the headphone work OK?

Howzit Nuck.

My moms bad luck actually. I'm on holiday at my folks house in South Africa and have been enjoying my old NAD 317 that I gave them years back, until now at least.

Have swapped cables to establish that it is the amp that is at fault. Dont have any headphones on hand though. I doubt I'll try fiddle around inside her unless you could be fairly sure what the problem is. But even a guess might help the guy I would take it to. He's my moms tv repair guy and I'm not sure he knows his way around an amp, but he might be the best we can do.

cheers

B, the headphone test would really give someone a good troubleshooting direction to go in.
