I just bought a samsung 1000w theater in a box with my TV. The speaker wire that they supplied me is not long enough for where I am going to put the speakers. I need to buy new wire for one speaker, would I be better off buying thicker speaker wire for all of the speakers? I think it came with 18 GA so would it make much of a difference if I went to thicker wire and of higher quality?. I'm going to be wiring it into the walls so I want to do it right the first time.

Is there a website that I can go to to learn the basics about home theaters?? I don't want to ask too many questions here.

Go to home depot and grab some 16GA and call it good. Even then, there wont be a huge improvement with a htib, but wont hurt either, considering you will have a few longer runs. You can google "speaker wire lengths, or speaker wire guages" and see what comes up also.

Damn Canadians. Too busy curing back bacon to read up on it.
Maybe if I print it upside down on a beer bottle...

I always figured Nuck was Canadian... he knows too much of the way of the Canuck not to be.

"...1000w theater in a box..."

I'm setting the over/under for all channels driven at 8 ohms at 20-20k Hz with .1% THD at 25 watts per channel max. Any takers?

Stu, maybe not even that. Speaker wire isnt going to change much in overall performance, but, like has been said before, it sure cant hurt.

Sorry Alan, my profile doesn't show Canadian, I thought it did.
Canuck enough to give the others a laugh with my comment.
