I am currently in the market for some new speakers. I have about 300 to spend on a pair and 200 to spend on a sub. So 500 total for a 2.1 setup. I have a HK AVR 145 to drive them with. The room is carpeted and about 15x20. I am a noob and have very little expierence.
I have heard that the SVS SC-01s are great, anyone have any expierence with these compared to say $300 worth of BW bookshelf speakers?

How do you guys feel about a 3.1 setup, for both music and movies? Any suggestions?
If you're talking about down mixing the surrounds in to the left and right fronts as well as the centre and sub being engaged I have never bothered with it. In fact I have many tricks up my sleeve for home cinema sound entertainment.
