I was offered a pair of these as advertised @700 CDN.
The ad says stored in original packing for 5 years, but who knows?

I like what I have read so far, and it seems the active XO is available and fairly priced as a standard mod for these.

Would anyone like to offer any opinions or experiences with this Linn product?

They will be powered with my large Classe setup.

Thank you in advance.

It's a foray into active XO's lads.

See the Keilidh are very very adaptable to multi amp, multi channel, etc.

I wanna see what active xo's can do, given a usury budget. These seem to fit the bill.

I hope Tim stops by...

AND, the ideal placement of the speaks is hugging a rear wall, no side walls, 0 to 15 toe.
The placement is something that matters now.
Dammit.

The speaks have a fairly wide dispersion, although not as wide as the TW3's that might come here from Mike.

Speaker time!

Mrs. Nuck is soooo excited.
Not.

The Psb's are 2' out into the room now, so a recess of speaker-dom would be a good thing.
The active units are designed to go with Linn Mono's, but I can get around that with maybe the tube amp rinning the 6 ohm high's and the Classe running low. Or I can bi-amp the Rotel 5 channel for both.
Or I can get the 73 Pioneer pre/power up and running to push them.

Thank goodness my wife has a high tolerance!

laughing out loud with fear and hope, I've got a desperate plan,
At the one lane bridge I leave the Giant stranded at the riverside, go back to the farm, to dream with my uncle at the fireside...

Or, I can pull the transmission from the '63 Studie and put it in the rear of the the '82 Buick instead of the differential which I swapped from the truck and then I could put that on the kid's bike ... Oh, wait, I don't have a kid.

The pair I was looking at were sold. I had another line on the active XO's and Mono amps, but the seller is too firm on price.
I'll poke arouns sommore, though.

Phew! Thank God you missed them Nuck! Let me explain...

Nothing wrong with Keilidhs. Nice speakers, fairly fun and enjoyable.

BUT

As far as I know, the active crossovers for the Keilidhs are plug-in cards that are fitted directly into Linn amps. You can't just plug the active crossover between any preamp and any power amps, as you can with some other active solutions.

Back to the speakers, one of the options you could choose as a purchaser was to have the composite bases. These may not look like much but they improve the performance of the speaker a lot. Try to find a pair with the composite bases if you can.

Also, I know the Linn manual says they go near the wall, but in a tyical room I used to find they liked to be at least 12" from the back wall, and preferably 18" away in order to control the bass. Obviously this is somewhat room-dependant.

Regards,
Frank.

Frank, thank you for following.
Yes the XO's seem to have a propriatary connection from the amp's.
I have info on how to go around this, but it's looking like a kerfuffle.
I will consider the whole issue banjaxed for now, I think.

Nuck
