So I have the 1973 Pioneer now, it needs a cleaning. I have nonresidual contact cleaner to hose it down.
What a beauty. The pre has bass and treble for each channel, low and high bypass filters and norm/revertse(180 deg) selector.
This thing has what would be a HT 5 yrs ago built in, but STEREO!

Now, the Q.
Both units have 20g lamp cord for power, non grounded.

What should I use for power cord?
I have 14g cap-tie(rubber shrouded 3-wire), should I use something else?
I will solder on the stuff I have to try it out after the cleaning, but is there a better rec?

Why do you think you have to change the power cables?

Is the insulation in good shape? Any signs of deterioration on the cable or plug?

A bit frayed at a long term bend in the cable.
Like arond a corner for 20 yrs or so.

Well the pre will not power up at all, and the ingress to the power connections are via 30 year old Reed and Prince screws, covered in shite.
I may have to cut the screws with the Dremmel, losing the original screws in the process.
Yeehaw. Not.

Nuck, you need to let your wife decide which power tools will be required. Just hope she doesn't choose her new chainsaw.

I met up with a local guy today, via my BIL.
This mechanic/garage owner guy is a Pioneer lunatic.

He has stacks 6' tall.
Spec4 amps(3), Spec 1 preamp, dual 26 band EQ's.
4 tape decks,want a mint PT 2150 deck? $300CDN.
Manual bias, manual tape set, 5 zillion buttons, a nice studio.

2 sets of speaks, stacked(it ain't a great listening room), HPM700 and HPM900. He has a set of 100's upstairs, but needs a woofer.

And his buddy has 5x more than that!

Who says Canadians can't have rednecks!?
