I have an Audiolab 8000A mkiii integrated with phono stage. I want to upgrade to something in the Simaudio Moon series. These amps do not contain a phono stage. Can I use the Audiolab as a phono stage?

thanks in advance.

That gets kind of messy and large, John. Why not add a phono pre amp from any number of makers?(not a phono guy, sorry). A c-note will grant you a phono stage. Or spend 8k for one. Lots to be had.
If you look in Phono, you will find the names.(and a bunch of vinyl-heads, too).

Hi John,

I agree with Nuck that a dedicated phono stage will be a more elegant solution.

But of course, in the interim the 8000A can be used as a phono stage, just set the record selector to phono, and connect the tape-out RCA's from the Audiolab to a spare set of line-ins on the new SimAudio unit. (Leave the TT connected to the phono input of the Audiolab of course!)

cheers
Rav

Thanks for the feedback. If I know I can use the Audiolab, albeit temporarily, as a phono stage, it will help me immensely.

thanks again
