I'm trying to decide between an Arcam A65 & CD73 system possibly with Totem rainmaker speakers, or a Cambridge Audio 640C & 640A system with Paradigm studio 20 or Rega R3 speakers. The Regas sounded great but their crispness scared me a bit (although they were brand new when I heard them). These particular stereo/speaker pairings are based on the dealers that carry them.
Sounds like you have answered your own question. Why buy a set of speakers if..."their crispness scared me"? They will maintain much of their character even after they are broken in.
