Making a speaker

Hello,
I am currently trying to make a speaker out of old shoes, the quality of sound is of course not important as I'm interested in information being lost in translation. I would like to intergrate the shoe with the driver as much as possible and was wondering if you guys had any advice.

I'm using an old adidas campus, and I have an assortment of crappy speakers.
So far I have tried cutting a hole in the sole and removing the insole, then using the insole instead of the driver diaphram, using superglue to stick the 1.5" driver and insole together, and screwing the whole thing onto the sole of the shoe.

Thanks in advance.

Are you taking into account "baffle step" diffraction?

No, what is it, and how would it affect the output?
