hi all, i'm a bit confused reading some of the posts here on this topic and can't seem to find the exact answer to my question. which is..
i have a Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 sound card http://www.soundblaster.com/products/product.asp?category=1&subcategory=207&prod uct=14184in my PC. i have it connected to my Yamaha RX-V795a http://www.yamaha.co.jp/english/product/av/products/ht/rxv795a.htmlat the moment, simply by going from the green out of the sound card into the CD input (RCA left/right) on the reciever. when i want to listen to an MP3 that's on the pc i just listen to it by selecting the CD source on the reciever. but the sound comes out of one speaker alot stronger than the other? also i have recently downloaded alot of movies, some with mp3 sound others with AC3. i have the pc connected to the reciever/tv so i can play them on the pc and watch them on the tv. but as you can imagine, the sound quality is quite poor. i also already have my DVD recorder connected to the DVD optical input and the only other digital input is the DVD Coaxial, so i assume i won't be able to connect it up digitally? there is an 'External Decoder' 6 plug input which i assume is analogue that will require 3 cables (front, center/subwoffer, rear)all 3.5 to RCA.

am i on the right track?

if not which is the best way to connect my pc to the reciever so can listen to my mp3's at high quality and watch movies with 5.1 sound.

thanks in advance
