Bi-wire, bi-amp???

what do these terms mean exactly and are they designed for certain speakers/set-ups? Ive heard a lot of talk about doing this to speakers but am unfamiliar with how to do it and what it does? I have just gotten some Athena bookshelfs and a middle--ill soon be getting some AS-F1's. do these terms apply to me? thanks again guys for educating the helpless.

To biwire or not to biwire. It's one of the biggest debates plagueing the world of HiFi. I'm all for it though.

To see if you can biwire look behind the speaker. If you have 4 binding posts on each speaker then yes, your spkrs are biwirable/biampable.

alright, what does it do though? add more power or what?
also, in car audio you can bridge two channels into one speaker to throw twice the power into that speaker. can you do this with the extra unused channels in a a/v receiver to get full potential out of tower speakers? will it mess up the dolby digital?
