Please don't flame me as I am new to all this.In the past it was said never to store videotapes near speakers because it will ruin them.
I have run into a storage problem for my dvds so I have placed them in a bookshelf right near my speakers so my question is this:
1.Is it safe to store dvds near home theater and PC speakers?
Thank you.

Speakers have magnets in them.

Tapes don't like magnets.

DVDs don't care.

Demagnetising the tapes and pulling on the magnetically recording, not good, move them away at once and to be sure there is no damage check them out....

As these guys said - the magnets in the speakers was what ruined video tapes. DVD works in a completely different manner, so magnets won't affect them.
