Hi all,

I've just purchased my first HiFi and need some help.
I want to give my new system the best possible start in life and i've been told by the Sales rep that i will need to "wear in" my amp. I assume that this means playing music through it quietly for a period of time, can anyone elaborate on this??

p.s its a Cambridge Audio 640 if thats relevant

Gary,

Not that quietly. It'll need to run in but this means it just needs to be run at normal room-filling levels for a while before all its components bed in fully. It will work correctly out of the box (hopefully) and it should run in over a period of a couple of weeks. What you'll notice is the sound being a bit more coherent and better integrated at the end of the bedding in period. Some kit really suffers from extended running in periods, but this is not the case with the CA - a couple of weeks continuous playing at low to medium levels with the odd blast ( :-) ) every now and then will be fine.

Regards,
Frank.
