Hi everybody! After more than 2 months of research and auditions I decided to go with one of this 2 receivers. Please help me with ant inputs or experiences that you might have. I appreciate that. My speakers will be PSB 9C, 5T, 10S and HSU sub.
Thanks a lot!

I won't say too much since almost this same discussion is going on a different thread now.
https://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/forum/home-audio/15579.html
To tell you the truth, I have never had the chance to listen to any Cambridge Audio receivers. But, I have an NAD T762 paired with Image 2B's and 9C (no PSB surrounds yet...but I really want some). The combo is simply unbelievable. Read that thread from above...I am not the only one getting these results. So, like I said, I have never heard the Cambridge...but I seriously doubt that with those PSB speakers that you could do any better than the NAD.

By the way, PLEASE post back when you get all of this set up. I am looking to buy some PSB surrounds and I can't figure out whether I like the bipolar 10S or a direct speaker like the 1B better. I would be very interested to hear your impressions of the 10S that you have.

Good luck...and please post back.

In the other thread there was nothing on the 540R, so I'll put some links in here. Discussion from some french boards:

http://www.prixdumatos.com/forum/index.php?s=2ff51bb4d9c8c35295e4ebef81ab3172&sh owtopic=6224
- Toroidial transformer (~3 inch diameter), big heatsink and one big and quiet fan. Draws max 600-800W power.
- 540R has 1-line display and no OSD
- Soft sound with little shadowed mids

And the other (27 pages):
http://www.homecinema-fr.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=29728284&sid=a42be124d2109985 daf789f3f218a8f4
- User taken pictures on page 5 and 25
- Long and interesting post on page 9
- Manual on page 26
- Rich, detailed and dynamic sound (compared to what?)
- Multichannel decoding is a bit weaker than with Yamaha RXV1400, but the sound is richer and more enveloping and emotional.

Looks interesting...I would love to read about this receiver...now if only I had paid attention in all of those French classes from High School and College.

Man, I just listened to Cambridge Azur 540. And, incredible, souns even better than NAD 743. I didn't expected that because I liked so much the NAD. Cambridge is more natural and sounds very very good with clasical and jazz. Less that kind of bass that NAD is having. Beautiful and honest sound. I think I will go for it.

Johnny, use one of the on-line translators like those at Google and Altavista. They are far from perfect, but you should be able to get the gist of what is being said.

Goose,

I am intrigued. How do I find one of those? Just type translator into google? Do I then have to cut and paste the text of the article into the translator? Or will it automatically do it? Sorry for so many questions, but I have never heard of anything like that before. If only they had those things when I was in HS! I could have had my homework done for me in a few seconds.

Either of the below will accept cut-and-paste text or a URL. Just select the desired input and output languages and away you go. I did find that babelfish stopped translating partway down some pages, for unknown reasons.

hello
i just got the cambridge 540r
do anyone know why the tweeters of the back speakers distort, like bzzzzz, while playing music in room/hall/theatre surround mode?
as if only these modes uses the "ecko" effect to the back speakers, but it makes the tweeters distort ?

avinoam:

I can't hear what you are hearing, but a "buzz" doesn't sound right--you may wish to have your dealer look at it because it shouldn't do that.

Good luck!
