MP3 player for recording

Unregistered guest
I am looking to buy a MP3 player with 40 GB memory. My main objective from the player is to record live music. Could you advise as to which player out there currently will give me the best recording quality for recording live music?

Definitely not an mp3 player. if you are going to record live music and expect the best quality, you need better equipment than an mp3 player. Pick any portable mp3 player that can record and they will pretty much be the same quality. You want great quality live music recording, be prepared to spend the money.
How much is your budget?

Look for DAT or mini disk format if you want portable, not mp3...too much compression.

Many of the newer portable MP3 player/recorders allow recording directly in uncompressed .wav format (such as the iRiver H140).
