harmon kardon av235, kef 1005s.

kef subwoofer has red & white input.
harmon kardon has only 1 output port for subwoofer.

do i need an audio y-cable of sorts?

my kef 1005s are wall mounted. any particular setting i should be using on the receiver for a "full" surround sound effect?

Try the manual and see "how to connect subwoofer".
Here is an excerpt from the KEF website;

"Connect all speakers to amplifier/receiver & set up as "SMALL" speakers in bass management menu. Select subwoofer on or "bass out" to "SUBWOOFER" not "MAIN" or "BOTH".

Connect the subwoofer output on AV amp/receiver to the left low level input on subwoofer using a commercially available low level cable.

Set crossover on subwoofer to maximum as the AV amp will send all relevant frequencies from speakers and LFE to the sub out jack"

click on "WIRING DIAGRAM"

cheers

Does the LFE ensure that only the red audio cable be connected to the subwoofer out on the receiver to still receive the best sound?

what does LFE stand for?

You need to connect the white color coded jack, the LEFT...not the red. Do not connect the red.

LFE - Low Frequency Effects.

Why white and not red? Just curious.

I was wondering the same thing. I think he means:

There's one LFE output jack on the receiver but two jacks on the sub. You connect to the left side on the sub. You have a cable pair (R+L) to do it with, and you can use either side.
