I was at compusa a while back and they were clearing out their home audio department, so i got a pair of JBL e20's for fifty bucks and they sound great with no comestic flaws. I had them hooked up to my HT system and played some music and was very pleased. Now onto my question. I want them to be in my room for simple stereo listening. (small room) Here are the specs for the e20s:
Maximum Recommended Amplifier Power: 125 Watts
Power Handling (Continuous/Peak): 60 Watts/240 Watts
Impedance: 8 Ohms nominal
Sensitivity (2.83V/1m): 86dB
Frequency Response (--3dB): 68Hz -- 20kHz
Crossover Frequency: 3000Hz

The onkyo TX-8011 is 50 watts X2 at 8 ohms. I was just curious would I be under powering the e20s. Ive read that underpowering speakers is more dangerous to them then overpowering.

Yes, they'll be ok.

that's really not true, the only time underpowering becomes dangerous is when you cause your receiver to start sending clipped signals to the speakers.. as long as you stay in the receiver's "good range" underpowering will never be a problem.

I'll go one step further and combine the two previous posts.....

Yes, they'll be fine, but you can damage 'ANY' speaker if you turn the volume so loud that your receiver distorts and clips. That should go without saying.

In general, distortion damages speakers, not power or the lack therof.
