I have recently bought a pair of computer speakers for my PC and they have ran pretty good. My good friend has a package of speakers that include a pair of speakers and a sub for his PC. This got me thinking if I buy that package that includes the sub and speakers to make a type of simulated surround sound environment for my TV, but I am asking if I do do this, will I lose clearity and quality? And will it be worth the cash I shell out for it?

depends on your TV...most TVs have crappy onboard sound so adding say a $120 Logitech Z-2300 2.1 setup to them is a big improvement.

Just make sure your TV has audio OUTPUTS unless you want to use the tuner on your VCR to watch TV.

Goes without saying that you'd get better sound with a real receiver and speakers, but that's a lot more money than $120.
