Whats up with this bigger transformers in cd players is better?

So.. I was talking to a guy in a store that sells all top of the line stuff, and he was telling me how all of the cd players that were over about $400 had bigger transformers in them, which allows everything to have abundant power for loud part of songs or something, so they sounded better and werent as "zingy". A transformer thats rated for say 20va will do more, its not like its going to explode or its limited to 20va. So why do bigger transformers in cd players matter?
