If you get a very weak signal you have a magnetic cartridge and you will need a preamp with the proper equalization. You may want to look at one of my web pages. http://dvautier.home.comcast.net/audio/audio.htm and perhaps http://dvautier.home.comcast.net/lp/lp.htm good luck |

(It is the cartridge and not the turntable which determines what type of pre amp you require.) Telling us what type of turntable and cartridge you own would help us give the correct answer. Here's my guess; If your complete turntable cost less than $99, you have a ceramic cartridge. If your complete turntable cost more than $100, you probably have a magnetic cartridge. If your complete turntable cost more than $100 and the dealer asked you which $1000+ cartridge you wanted, you probably have a moving coil cartridge. I'll bet you'd know if you had a moving coil cartridge. |
