Hi, I own a Kenwood VR-7080 6.1 receiver. I am interested in the Earthquake Nova SN-51 speakers. Anyone know anything about them? Are they a good investment?

It doesn't need a receiver. It powers its sub and all its speakers. It's more of a Home Theater in a Box.

Generally, you don't speak of "investment" when spending $370 on 5 speakers, a sub and an amplifier. You speak of spending some money.

I guess what I am looking for is a nice subwoofer to deliver great lows. I would like to stay around the 300 dollar range.

What's the room size?

The only sub for $300 is the Hsu STF-1 but people say very nice things about the slightly more expensive 10" TITANIC MKIII SUBWOOFER KIT at parts express. It's only a few dollars more than the Hsu when you factor in shipping and you have to assemble it yourself (should be easy), but it's double the power rating and double the weight.

If you bump the budget up to $400 then there's the Hsu STF-2, and a little more gets you the SVS PB10-ISD.
