SACD's are in Dire Straits! - Gotcha!

The long awaited transition of Dire Strait's "Brothers In Arms" to multi channel hybrid sacd has finally happened and is being released May 9th.

It also speculated it may be the 5000th sacd release - which shows that this format is really gathering momentum as it was only a few months ago when the figure hit 2500.

I am awaiting Mark Knofler's Shangrila DVD-A and I'll certainly be pre-ordering the "BIA" sacd.

I had read "Brothers in Arms" would be released in DVD-A also. True?

Haven't heard that about BIA, but Shangrila is in both formats. I ordered the DVD-A before I realised it was also out in SACD. But the DVD-A also comes with a CD version (not dualdisc).

"It also speculated it may be the 5000th sacd release . . . "

Interesting note on BIA in SACD:

A long discussion in anticipation of BIA:

BIA could be the granddaddy of acid tests for any hi-rez issued to date.

I wonder if anybody has the guts to tackle Mitch Mitchell's drumming (very under apprecaited, Elvin Jones would be proud) along with Hendrix. Or, maybe, the orignal multi channel mixes don't exist. I think I read somewhere that some cuts were missing from "AJA" and causing a delay.
