I dont have much money to spend on audio equipment, I just need something that doesnt suck to replace my old Yamaha. I have been reading about the Panasonics, and this model got some pretty good reviews. I have also found it refurb'd on this website, what does everyone think?

is it worth it? Also, can you recommend speakers? I have crappying Techniques that I want to replace.

Thanks for you help.

How much are you looking to spend and what exactly are you buying? How many speakers?

I'd like to spend less than $200 on a receiver and no more than $150 each for speakers. I would use the receiver for mostly music, but I would also use it to watch movies in surround sound. I'll probably end up buying a surround sound speaker system. Thanks.

Cevlin,

In the entry level market, Pioneer and Yamaha both offer recievers with a nice selection of features. Personally, Im a little leery of refurbs, but that's just me.

If you're looking for budget speakers with lots of punch, you definitely need to look into Cerwin Vega. IMO, they offer the best sound/output/dollar ratio on the market.

Whatever speakers you decide on, be sure to listen to them first. Dont take anybodies word for how great they sound, because what sounds great to one person, might sound awful to you.
