Would much appreciate your thoughts. The more detail the better (specific names of series of speakers). The receivers I'm considering are (which I understand are all in about the same category in terms of quality and price):

1. HK AVR 7300
2. Rotel RSX 1067
3. Marantz SR7500
4. Denon AVR 3805

Some of the speaker systems I've been recommended are (although I don't know which SERIES):

1. Paradigm
2. Definitive Technologies
3. B&W
4. Canton
5. Atlantic Technologies

Any especially good pairings would be helpful. Thanks!

What are you listening to mainly?

Gotta choose a system based on your style. Chopin? Klipsh is king. Led Zepplin, You'll want to throw your Klipsh out the window and will be begging for a pair of Polks.

Personally, I've mixed Bose, Infinity, Klipsh, Polk and Paradigm speakers into a single system. Some may cringe, but for me it draws on each speakers strengths so it is impossible to put in a CD that doesn't sound incredible. (ok, maybe the backstreet boys CD)

1) Rotel 1067 ($2100)
2) Definitive Tech
--------a) BP 8B $800
--------b) C/L/R 2002 $500
--------c) BP 2X $500

At $4000 MSRP, you have headroom for cables and tax.
