Hi All,
I have a 9 year old Sony STR-D311 that suddenly stopped working. Power comes on but none of the "modes"(ie. Tuner, CD, Video) work....the display is blank & no sound.

Is this something simple like an internal fuse or something more major & appropriate for it's age that I should consider trashing & replacing with a newer unit?

Any help or thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Jon

It could be a fuse or a specific part of the circuitry that is compromised. Decide how much money you are willing to invest in a repair. A fuse problem would most likely be a simple fix though. Anything beyond that is questionable.

My feeling is that most nine year old machines that were not upper end when purchased, will not last much longer than 10-15 years.

Could be the master control IC. It is a large device that runs most functions on many recievers. That will be somewhat expensive to repair. It could also be the IC that controls the display which is less expensive but not as likely to go out.
