I have a kx800.2 amp and i was wondering which would be louder one 12" L7 or 2 12" compvr's (sealed boxes)? if i go with the L7 would i have too many watts to put it in a ported box?

In general, two subs will be louder than one. Reason: you will be pushing twice the volume of air, 24" instead of 12".
it'll depend on the combined Xmax of the CVR subs versus the L7, as well as the surface area, since the L7 has more surface area than the typical round 12" sub. hard to really say which would be better.. both will yield quite a different result.
going from one sub, to two of the same sub on the same amp, will yield an increase of +3dB which is noticeable, but nowhere near twice as loud (+1-dB)
