Sub enclosure for 12 W6v2

hey everyone, i jus purchased a JL audio 12" W6v2. I need an enclosure and i called the local car audio store and said they'd have to make a custom box for $200 in order to keep it to the recommended airspace, but that is a lil pricey for me. I called good guys and they were selling boxes for $60, but the airspace was slightly different. the airspace of the box was 1.4 while the W6v2 needs 1.25. How much worse will it sound in the 1.4 airspace box or the custom?? Also i went to the local auction and they sold boxes for really cheap, should i trust them? thanks everyone!!

Assuming the box is good then it's easy to make it smaller by adding a block of wood or polystyrene. Remember that the box sizes quoted by manufacturers don't tend to include the space taken up by the sub, so once you take the subs volume from the 1.4 you'll be nearer 1.25 anyway.
