Guide to AMP - SUB selection

I am new to car stereo and want to add a SUB and amp to my car. I have an Infinity 10" 4ohm 225w RMS sub. I am looking to buy a mono amp to power it.

Is there a difinitive formula when choosing RMS watt ranges when comparing SUBs to AMPs? For Example would I want to buy an amp that puts out 225 RMS (@ 4ohms obviously) to power this sub or should I go higher? What would be ideal?

You can either get a small 2 channel amp and bridge the 2 channels to get 4ohm monno, or you can get like the Kicker KX400.1 mono amp. It's underated and would put out just the power you need, would also potentially allow you to add another of the same sub later.
