if i have two subs that are rated at 300w rms, do i need an amp at about 300w rms or an amp at about 600w rms since i have two subs? thanks

You need a 600watt amp and wire it at 2ohms for each sub to push the 300watts.

No Jeff you are thinking of 4ohm DVC subs. DVC 2ohm subs can be wired for 0.5ohms 2ohms or 8ohms. He said he has 2 subs. Mahoe get a JBL600.1 and wire your subs for a 2ohm load.

Heres a diagram to help with wiring.
