I am on a very low budget and am wondering would it make a huge difference if i ran two speakers and a sub on a 4 channel amp or have a separate amp for each? I seem to be getting good highs from my pair of db651's but am missing some of the mids. Will a 10" sub cover up some of the mids and hit the low notes?

Any sub would be an upgrade over none for sure. Get a low power 10" and it will do fine off 2 bridged channels.

What is your current setup (amp, watts, channels, speakers, etc...)

And what do you want to accomplish? do you already have a sub?? your post is kind of vague.

Well I currently have no amps or subs. I have db651's in front and boston acoustic 6x9's in the back. I am planning on getting an amp and a sub. Then getting an 2 channel amp for my db651's and getting rid of the 6x9's as they produce very muffled and bad quality highs. Am currently running my speakers straight of my eclipse avn52d HU. everything is stock except speakers. Should I get an amp for my frontstage?

I was always a fan of those db's for their price.
I would suggest a nice little 2 channel that does 50w per channel for them.

if you were wanting to add a sub to it, a 4 channel would work

you didnt specify a budget so ill go ahead and suggest something that would be relatively cheap

amp: Hifonics HFi100.4

subwoofer options:
Fi x

IA 187

SSA DCON

assuming that was all bought new, you are looking at around $235-$250 for the amp and sub
you would also need to account for a box and wiring

That hifonics amp is overrated so it would probably do well for both the db's and any of those subs

upon closer inspection the IA 187 is only available in D4 voice coil which would not work with that hifonics amp because it would not be stable bridged at 2 ohms

the DCON or the Fi x would still be good options though

thank you. With a 250 watt rms sub and amp would i need to upgrade the big 3?

probably not

i mean it wouldnt hurt it, but it would not be necessary
if you were to upgrade it, something like 8 gauge would suffice, 4 gauge would be better

Okay well my whole setup is complete. I know it's not good compared to any of your standards but I have an mtx thunder 6000 12" sub in ported box and a jensen 220 watt rms amp. Amp is kinda shitty. I got these 2 things and a 75x 2 channel rms amp for my frontstage all for 120 bucks. The guy had no clue wat he was selling so i got a good deal. Any advice on how to install another amp? should i run the wiring on the opposite side of the car? Would i need to upgrade batteries? It gets pretty loud but what could i do to get better sound quality?
