I'm looking for 2 10's to be pushed with a PG Ryval V800.1.
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9795_Phoenix-Gold-Ryval-V8001.html

Looking at 2 RE SEX 10's (especially with the sale going on) http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_27313_RE-Audio-SEX10D2.html

Anyone think I can do better for less than $300?

that sounds good unless you find a real good deal on some used somewhere. 1 in the hand is worth 2 in the bush

Actually, that amp is a solid 800w @ 2ohm @ 14.4v.

Awhile back, I did an MTX 7500-12 SVC 4ohm in (my build) custom box. That amp gave the MTX everything it wanted.....its a solid 4-500wrms @4ohm.

Yes, it is a 'cheap' amp, but it is not boss/legacy level 'cheap'. More along the lines of Maxxsonics 'cheap'. We used to be both a Maxxsonics and PG dealer, and I still see their lines for installs on a regular basis. (We dropped them awhile back though...along w/ MTX, picked up DD and ARC, never looked back)

All arguments aside,
OP, you have an OK amp.

The questions I have for you are:

What vehicle do you have?
What type of sound do you want?....Loud? Low note monster? Smooth and flat? Punchy and tight?

Yeah, I've been using it for 3 years now. Picked it up at Fry's on clearance for $50. I know it's entry level, but I got it because I couldn't beat the price.

I have a '02 Accord. I was running 2 12" sonance "upgraded" (according to Steve) but popped one a little while back. Cut my box in half and sold the good one. Threw a cvx in there and am getting sick of the sloppy sound. I listen to everything but country, so fast kick drums to rolling bass lines. I was thinking about going to 10's for the better response, and I just don't need the volume of 2 12's anymore. My rearview mirror broke at the mount from the sonances.

I have 2 more 6.5 Eclipse point source (the really old ones) that I am going to install in door skins I'm making, for a total of 2 on each side. So I do still need some volume.

I will be building a chambered slot port box tuned to 30hz. My old box was 1.4 ft3 on each side, and I can easily go to 1.5 each. I've built several boxes, so that will not be an issue. Thanks for the input guys.

Here's some of the stuff I've done. Nothing great, but w/e.

I would choose these over the RE,I dont have any experience with RE but I do with TC and IMO you cant get better SQ than a TC driver. They're around the same price and if that amp really does do 800wrms at 2ohms then that will power 2 of these just about perfect. I would go sealed.
