Why do you need a $1000 SQ sub? Are you competing? My guess would be no since you are asking this. There is absolutely no need for a $1000 sub for a daily driver, whether you are going for SQ or SPL, when a sub half that cost will perform perfectly for your standards. Solid equipment is a good start for SQ but your install and tuning are far more important.

What are your goals and what sort of power range are you looking at?

If you can fit an 18

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=293-666

Or 1 or 2 of this 15 or 12

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=293-642

This may be a little more SQ oriented than the Axis

i wud not call a Atomic quantum a "SQ" sub

had a 12 in it tuned 34hr\z few yrs ago - sounds good & gets loud but its not a pure sq sub

any of those TC sounds subs is a good choice ...

Any LMS motor will have lower distortion but it might not sound as good as an XBL^2 motor. I had both - Eclipse SW8200 sealed/ported, and a 05 RE XXX 12. The XXX sounded much better, it was more neutral/crisp/accurate.

How about the DC lvl 5 15 or 18.?

I am planning another build forever in the future and want an awesome SQ setup with tons of power. Was thinking maybe 1 18" lvl 5 in huge box tuned to 28 With 2500wrms. Are those subs good for daily? Good for lows?

$1000 for an SQ sub(s), $700 on sub amp?

Ok. So, this can only be answered by asking another question.

How much are you looking to spend on your mids, highs, mid/high amp(s), Hu, processors?

didnt know they re-did the atomic subs recently but to me the qunatum wasnt really their "SQ sub" - the manhattan was supposed to be "SQ" back then

just went on to their site - been a while since i visited it & im now seeing they have a fresh new look on their site , the quantum rating has gone up from 500w to 600w , they say its "Audiophile Sound Quality"

when i had mine i ran it at 2ohms off a orion 2500d which is 1700wrms - sub took it with no problems , off course u gotta be sensible & not play it with that much power for a long period of time ....
