I recently picked up the Profi components and have been considering going with 8" subs ... my last install alternated between four and six 10" subs in a Grand Cherokee.
This will be in an is350.

Anyone have experience with the Rainbow Vanadium 8" subs?
What other 8" subs would you consider "quality"

Ultimately the goal would be SQ but also the "WTF" factor after telling them the bass is coming from 8" subs.

Would you go with two, three, or four 8" subs.

I have 2x Orion 2500d, 2x PPI Art 600.2 and 4x Rockford 301m amps currently but considering Zapco or Butler for these.

Sundown is supposed to have a neo 8" out soon if not already. 4 of those would be my choice.

hmmm...their website isnt terribly impressive.
Describing your product as "to be the best in this price bracket" leaves the question: could it have been better at a bit more cost?

I will keep them in mind with i head out tomorrow to audition some 8" locally.

Any other brands anyone can suggest based on experience?

Let's put it this way. I recently was able to purchase a whole audio system. I went out and got 2 12" RE SEs and an ED Nine.1. Long story short, I am now going to be running 2 Sundown 12s and a Sundown amp. Because I have heard these and heard all kinds of positive remarks about them. Oh and the 12s are rated at 600 RMS and I will be giving them about 750-800 each. They are underrated. Just my opinion.

Here are the options in no particular order.

$130 Sundown SA-8 d2
$130 Sundown SA-8 d4
$140 ID8V d4
$140 ID8V.3 d2
$140 ID8V.3 d4
$45 RE x8 d4
$160 JL 8W3v3
$300 JL 8W7
$550 Ultimo 0 Morel

$400 Critical Mass SS82

I have never been a fan of JL but you cant ignore all the positive comments.
The Morel just seems like throwing money away in return for no audible gain (at least on paper).
I know nothing about Critical Mass beyond their outlandish adds. Are they a gimick or are they really that good?

The Sundowns are having lots of problems look into the DD 1508's ...they are nice handbuilt quality subs that can take a lot of abuse

I can vouch for the DD1508's on the WTF factor. Although the enclosure I heard it in was tuned a bit high for my taste, so the sound quality wasnt 100% there.

Im sure putting 3 - 4 DD1508's in a nice box with low tuning will sound amazing, check to see if you have any DD dealers in your area so you can demo them.

if you want the best sound the morels are it, although im sure if you shop around you can find them at least 100 cheaper per sub.
the dd is not going to be a sound quality sub stage.

and i know everyone hates jl audio, but the w3v3 is a very impressive sound quality sub, in my opinion.

but that said about the morels being the best you may not get the wow factor of how loud the bass is. they are meant to be transparent, and make it seem as if you do not have something making noise in the trunk, but rather it sounds like the bass is coming from your speakers

ID. not only for the price but quality as well. bonus factor of having something different than the rest of the crowd. put as many as you can efficiently fit in, you have a good bit of space to work with in your IS.

fyi, "CanaanWhite" is mimicking a respected member of this forum. kind of. though he is pretty entertaining, nothing said by him should be taken seriously, although he does actually put out some good advice sometimes. still trying to figure out who he is..

So the ID is the direction i am heading.
Had a slight delay due to an accident tearing up my rear bumper (dam drunks).

got car back last week...will be looking at subs again after Thanksgiving.
