Here is what I have in my old body style Silverado.

I just sold my Fi Q's b/c they didn't fit my box. Today ups brought me these

Upload

Two Eclipse SW6010. These are only 450wrms each but they fit in my box and work well with my SQ based system. I have them wired for a 4 ohm final load to my american bass 200.1 amp. This amp is very underrated and can do close to 3000w at 1 ohm so I'm guessing they're getting close to 1000w at 4 ohms. How many amps can do that There should be a nice gain in efficencey and DF at 4 ohms too.

This is my under-seat box. Very limited depth inside

New subs mounted in box

Box fits under the ext cab trucks back seat. I still need to mount it in place, it moves if i make a quick stop.

Amps are mounted under the trucks front seats. American bass 200.1 for the subs and a JL 360.2 for the speakers.

Driver side speakers, CDT ES-5 mid and DRT-25 tweeter. This vehicle had the dreaded 4x6 dash speakers stock so i had to do some custom work. Doesn't look pretty but works very well. Making stuff look pretty is not one of my skills lol.

Same JVC HU i've had forever. Stock, there was a cassete deck where the HU is now. The main radio was a square unit above the hvac controls. The dashkit comes with a little storage pocket to fill that space, so I mounted my GPS in there. Hard wired power for it, that blue rocker switch turns it on.

looking pretty good M.S. i like how u eliminated the stock square head unit, those things are so damn ugly in those trucks. and the speaker pods dont look half bad either. and WOW!! that little amp is extremely under rated.

just dont tap your heels on those rca's...

Nice looking subs! Is there really that big a difference in mounting depth compared to the Q's? Any chance for a vid?

A vid wouldnt be much lol.. the subs fire down so you can't see em...

Depth of these subs is 5-15/16" the Qs were 6-1/2". That 9/16" makes the difference

I want to say them sound almost as accurate as the Qs... not as much output but considering they take half the power, I'd say there are quite capable subs.

Well its "extended cab" technically... has a back seat but only 2 doors... I wish it was a 4 door "crew cab"

What kinda truck you have paul?

Yeah I'm a pickup man. I can still ride in style, get low 20's MPG, buy a washer/lumber when needed AND still seat 5.

Oh, and I can tow up to 8000 lbs, play in the snow like it's fun and chalk up a dirty truck as a great weekend.

That's a full package!!

My current truck sits so high that the tailgate is almost at shoulder height (I'm 6'2"). All factory suspension too. It's almost freaking weird lol.

Nice paul. The new F-150s look good, I always hated them in the 90s

And I agree, gotta have the truck.. I've always wanted a 4th gen camaro but I won't give up the truck. Have to wait till I can afford more vehicles lol.

Did you ever get some bass in your truck paul? You could do something similar to mine, use an enclosure like this

Fits under the back seat out of the way so you don't lose any seating

Wish I could. With my current profession in the corporate world it requires me to have the ability to transport exec's around. I can't have a sound system that has a bass box in the back seat lol. I need to be able to take guys to lunch who make $200,000/year respectably. No room under the seats either. That's the main reason I abandoned bass in my ride years back and turned to HT.

I suppose we all evolve eventually.

If you remember I had started a system with an Alpine HU, SS sub and Kicker amp. THAT was just before buying my new truck, which changed everything. Sad to see it go but a career is more important than a hobby in life today.

Ryan, my commute is 12 minutes lol. While my younger years were filled with club thumping, heart pounding bass, today I've slowed a bit.

Mind you I'm 20 years older than most of you here.

But Paul with an SUV or trunk car you could have at least a little bass and no one would ever know My Tahoe has the tow package so it's good for 8600lbs I believe- it's towed around 7k lbs down hwy 95 before and did a good job of it. I didn't care for the older fords but the new 150s look good, and the Raptor is eye candy.

Looking good M.S. I'm in the same boat as you, except I'd rather have an SUV and when I get more money I'll get a truck too. That box looks really good in there.

I forgot to mention that my tent rental business requires transporting 10' pole sections along with the other gear. That can't easily be done in an SUV.

Ah but Paul you're forgetting the awesomeness of a trailer. I do a lot of hauling, so we have quite a few trailers. One is just big enough to haul a truck-bed sized load, and the largest we've had 2 farm tractors and a half dozen attachments on at once- double axle and 3 point hitch ftw. I prefer trailers because you can disconnect the hitch and unload later if you want.

It boils down to we all like what we do, and that is a really clean looking truck you have.
