try it out. but if you let the magic smoke out it might not work anymore. that's what amps operate on. magic smoke. in case you were wondering..

there are other factors to this as well though. can your charging/wiring setup handle what that amp will put out at a 1ohm load? if your wires can't carry the amperage, clip city.

ok forget the 10001bd, my directed 2400d(1200 rms at 1 ohm) is pretty solid actually, and i found an alternator a 160 amp alt for 110 shipped! fits my corsica. should i just get this and then i could say upgrade later to a bigger amp and see a true 1500 watts for sure with 160 amp?

id upgrade to at least a 200 amp alt if you want a good idle and not that big of a price tag

to run 1200 watts or so a 160 amp alt will be ok.
i advice not running that rockford amp at 1 ohm, everyone will try to give you advice and say its ok, but do they really have the knowledge to know? im sure they don't have a great understanding of how amps work

Where are you getting this alt from?
I would not expect much from it at that price.

thats what i was about to say...just don't expect it to last you very long. or have a very good idle output.

that's why im just kinda waiting around till i save the money for a good one. im just keeping the gains down for now.
