just ordered a prototype icon 12 recone kit and im wondering about the shimmying. Now when i put the coil part in the motor i hear that if i mess up theres no way to take it back out? its not to difficult is it? reason im asking is cause the ssa operator i talked to said that he doesnt reccomend doing it myself... said it might be difficult but theres no way in hell i would ship it there AND back. it doesnt seem to tough from what ive seen on youtube.

I have always used manila folders, copy paper, and transparency paper to shim coils. DD sends slips of transparency paper w/ their recones.

Just build up the shims equally until it is snug around the pole piece, SNUG...NOT TIGHT. You have to be able to pull the shims once the glue is set. I leave a good 2-3" of the shims out so you can get a hand on the to pull out.

No, you only glue the spider and the surround.
Then, once that is cured, pull the shims and glue on the dust cap.
