If its only for a second or two, this is likely caused by the amp not getting enough voltage when it first cuts on. How long is the light staying on?

what makes you think this is abnormal?
it may be a power-on delay to avoid a thump in the speakers caused by an initial power surge.

or, it may just be another wonderful audiobahn defect.

Yeah, sorry, I was pretty vague on that. What I meant was that if his amp is showing red only for a few seconds after it cuts on that it was prolly just a power on delay where it cuts voltage to avoid a surge when it first powers up. My Alpine and Jensen (yeah, suck, I know) both show red for a second when they cut on and it is normal.

yeah Matt, that was why I was asking why he thought it was abnormal, seeing that.
I was trying to see if he's just assuming, or if he has other amps of the same model that act differently.
