I was wondering what is a good 10 inch sub that I can get under 300$ + enclosure. To work with my 2 channel alpine amp and pioneer deck.
Or would it be better if I got 2 cheap subs instead. I saw 150 for 2 kicker comp C's with enclosure used ofocourse.

one good sub is usually really close in output vs two cheaper ones....probably about one db difference from my experience

If you're going ported on the enclosure don't go pre fab.

EDIT: so I guess you guys are not fans of the kicker. the solo X won internatinal awards! which is why I assumed their mid range also must be good. I had an alpine type R before this and it was a good sub. Still looking for a good sub in lansing,MI

Not many fans of kicker here and the solo x is pure spl with the sq of a shart, loud n sloppy. U didn't like the type r? Did u have it in a good enclosure?

I bought 2 8w7s instead of the 10. I want accurate response and real HARD hitting bass. Will it work? I haven't installed yet. The box is sealed (jl specs)

Sean,
Putting in 2 10w7s was a possibility but after all the w7 research, it was the 8w7 that got the rave reviews. 10w7 doesn't have much press.
I thought sealed would make them punchier. There are 2 of them with 750 rms (not 500) from the JL 750 hd (not a bs amp).
I'm not trying to break any records, just want some solid accurate hits. Example, If i'm listening to Rush and Neil Pert jammin on the drums, I want to hear it accurately but with force too. WTF, is this setup going to be weak?

id expect the 8w7's to hit in 120's db wise which is ok for daily listening but not thunderous by any means. Its good you have the 750 I think your not really an spl guy but an sq guy (sound quality) and youll be happy with what you got

Sean or anyone else who can help quickly. I am almost ready to install the above mentioned equipment.

I am keeping my stock head unit in my 09 Elantra. What do I need for "line converter" and such?

Jl has a cleansweep ($200) A bit expensive and I think that's used if you have a Nav system in the head unit.

However, I will eventually be hooking up a 4 channel amp also to run the inside speakers. There is no Navigation system in the car, just built in XM radio and steering wheel controls.

I went ahead and got 2 alpint type R's 10 because I got a really good deal and they occupy less space. I do need a recommendation on an amplifier though thanks. something 1000rms
