I'm thinking of buying 2 rockford fosgate rfr3112 12'' dual voice coil 2 ohm subs. The specs on them say they will run from 150-1000w rms. I was thinking of getting two rockford 851s amps ( 425w X 2 channels @ 2 ohms rms ) which would be 850 rms per speaker. Does this sound right? I'm pretty much a newbie at this and just want to make sure, or are there any other amps that would work better? Also I heard these amps take up a lot of power and was thinking of also buying some capacitors, how many farads would be good? Thanks to all in advance.

Well i looked at that sub and you will for sure need a couple 1 farad caps because those subs are going to hit hard. Get a deep cycle Optima Yellow top to power that with a Alternator. Those subs are frikin huge. The Amps should power them just right (as long as you bridge).
Is this your sub?
