Tuesday, November 24, 2009 - 06:10 GMT The biggest power handling subs out there only come with ~10 gauge wires on them, that should give you your answer.

Tuesday, November 24, 2009 - 06:22 GMT Overkill is never enough in SPL. I have lost and won by 0.1dB in competition. Hell, I have taken 1st place thanks to some well placed duct-tape. If you are not a meter hog, 12ga is as big as you would ever need. I wire all my custom boxes at the shop w/ 12ga, no terminals...just direct 12ga connection. Usually ~6ft of 12ga per sub to allow the customer some slack to move the box around.
