Thinkin' about switching up my speaker wire to 6ga... should I?

I'm using 16ga monster cable.

I heard 6ga is better for proformace.

I have 2 12inch type r's and a pdx1000

The biggest power handling subs out there only come with ~10 gauge wires on them, that should give you your answer.

if so, seriously, m.s. is right 12ga is more than fine. don't listen to marketing ploys like 6ga b.s.

Okay, any thoughts on why people do it though?

Overkill is never enough in SPL.
I have lost and won by 0.1dB in competition.
Hell, I have taken 1st place thanks to some well placed duct-tape.

If you are not a meter hog, 12ga is as big as you would ever need. I wire all my custom boxes at the shop w/ 12ga, no terminals...just direct 12ga connection. Usually ~6ft of 12ga per sub to allow the customer some slack to move the box around.
