What is your favorite amp?

I wanna hear what amps are most widely favored in car audio. What brands do you suggest? No arguing, just post your favorite brand. I need a good brand and an amp that pushes 1000w RMS @ 1ohm @ 12-14watts.
I hear AQ 1200s are good, MA audio is not great, Maxxonix is decent...but we all agree you get what you pay for. I want to know the loopholes, (I want to pay little, get more!)

Any suggestions are welcome

I always thought the RF 1000.bd was a nice solid 1000 rms amp. Very powerful. Not sure how easy they are to come across now adays though. I've also been impressed with the U.S. Amps md.1d. Seems to be very efficient for the power it puts out.

They don't allow sales online in the USA so if you find online sales they are from over seas. or Canada. Depending on where you live I can direct you to a dealer.

I'm a sucker for the PPI PC series amps (NOT the PCX series). 100% USA made.

My favorite amps are old school Orions and PPIs. Specifically the Orion HCCA G4s though.

Jexx, why dont you like the PCX series? They were made in the USA too.

I do actually like the PCX series provided they WERE made in the USA. That's when PPI started to transition, and I've seen quite a few PCX's manufactured overseas. Just as a precaution (since others don't know the difference), I just tell them to avoid the PCX series, though it doesn't necessarily mean they're all bad. ;)

Really? Hmm I never knew that about the PCX series. I always thought all the PCX were all made in USA. I thought that was the last line made in USA before they sold out. Maybe the ones you have seen were refurbs?

it depends on what you are looking for

if you want spl then it really does not matter what you go with hifonics our any other china garbage it wont matter as long as you have voltage

if you are going for sound quality here are the best amps period

zapco bar none

jl audio

also the new rockford amps are really good amps also i have sold rockford for over 20 years and there really good the only thing is they dont have really high damping factor its 200 and the zapco and jl is 500 our more

so it depends on what your looking to do
but you always want amps that are made in usa our japan but everything is going to china so its all going to come down to quality control from the companys. the bottom line is if you have a good head unit and or eq you will not see a huge difference between the 3 amp here because i had jl amps and know i have rockford amp my system sound amazing

^^^^^ don't listen to him.

Hifonics and china amps are junk.. it does matter what kind of amp you get in spl.

Even if it's has a high voltage, they are still sh!!t

look at my post above and pick from those brands.

derek,
two months ago i would have agreed 100% with your opinion of amps made in the likes of china, tawain and korea...but i ran across an amp that changed my views. I recently got a JBL BP600.1 for $20. i originally planned on selling it for profit. I hooked it up to make sure it worked and to my surprise this little korean made p.o.s. is the strongest amp i've installed in my truck. i'm comparing this to T1000.1bd, MRV1000, kicker xs50 and zr360, crossfire1000, and a few other amps in the 1000 watt area. This Jbl beats the hell out of two 15" db drive platnum series 2000watt max subs
