sometimes on real low notes, like the lowest note in "put on", "white girl", and "love for money" its like my sub is bottoming out and sounds like a real loud knocking noise.. what is this? :S and also im thinking of building a new box for my hd3 tuned at around 35 hz, what you guys think?

Fs on those r pretty high so i guess maybe it just cant reproduce those extreme true lows due that fact ....

The knocking is the motor "bottoming" out alright. You're exceeding the mechanical limitations of the driver. The coil is in risk of frying.

phewwww.. thank god i turned my subsonic up. i eleminated the real low notes from trying to come out.. do u think if i tune it to 35 the low notes will be louder but my mids that are stupid loud will dissipate? or what will happen exactly? plus im thinking of making it 3 cubes instead of 2.3 which is what it is now... what will change??? feedback please..

My friend is having the same problem with his Fi BL 15. Its fully loaded and powered by an Audioque 1200d.

The box is 4.7 cubes tuned to 32 Hz

Is it possible that severe voltage drops are causing this? (my friend doesn't have the sense to upgrade big 3)

voltage drop can cause clipping

under powering can cause damage too

when ppl try to get more out of the set by over driving it which = distortion aka clipped signal ....
