which class is better? i know that class AB is less efficient but it provides better signal to the sub? i'm planning to run about ~1000 watts rms so should i get a really high end class AB amp to make sure it won't fry? any suggestions? let me know thanks

There's nothing wrong with running a Class AB to a sub but it is much more common and cost effective to run a Class D to a sub. A lot of SQ guys will run a AB to their sub as it provides a cleaner signal but if that is actually audibly detectable is a debate in itself. Some people claim they can tell the difference, others claim there is none.

x2 Yanks. Most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between class AB and D amplification, especially through a subwoofer. Get a good quality class D amp and you should be happy with it.

I'd suggest class AB amps, especially in an sq oriented setup. You must be aware that high quality AB amps require electrical upgrades to run them at full tilt.

So unless you're willing to invest in the electrical upgrades and some high quality cables, you may not detect much of an audible difference and might as well stick to class D.

my 2cents..
