I have never used the Alpine MRP m1000 but what happened is my buddy took his amp in (RD 850.1) and the shop wrecked it so they paid for his whole install ($210) and gave him an Alpine MRP m1000 in exchange for the wrecking the RD one.

Here is the question:
He is getting a 15" Sonance from me but it is a dual 2ohm sub. Is this model of Alipne ok to run @ 1ohm or will it fry? He may have to try to sell it or something so he can still run the 15"......as 4ohm isn't going to be too special with this set up..

Thanks!

just read that he is gettin the sonance from you...
reading > me

since the audio shop fried his RD 850.1, i would take the alpine back and tell them that he needs a 1ohm stable amp, if he can

iirc that model is only 2ohms stable

if they gave him a pdx1000 it will be fine since it does 1000wrms at either 2ohms or 4hms so he cud wire his sub at 4ohms .....

So wait, they shop installed the RD850 w/ a D2 Sonance and killed it. Then they give the guy and amp THAT DOES NOT MATCH his sub to make amends?

WTF kind of shop is this? Do they even know basic OHM's Law?

No he didn't have the sub yet some 12" type E to tide him over.

The thing is they carry NO 1ohm stable amps :-(

Yeah it does 1k @ 2ohms thats why I was wondering about the 1ohm if it would be stable.

He might have to try to sell it or trade or something.

I gotta say, if the amp was working and they fried it due ti negligence...they owe him $ to replace it or they need to give him an equivalent amp.

Did they fry it in the install bay or did he leave and it died later?

No they fried it a few days ago in the install bay and he's spoken with a few people and finally the manager was in and made it right.

They didn't have to give him his money back for the install ($210 back) so I would think having the install done for free (wire as well) and a replacement amp being given is not to bad of a deal over a blown amp.

true, however, they should give him an amp that does the same power at the ohm load he was going to use...

lol, no its a local shop. They ran all my wires, built a nice box an amp rack. They told me my amp didnt work and that they had the perfect amp for me. So i took it home to check it out an the power wire wasnt even hooked up to it. Idk, guess they thought i was retarded an was just gonna buy a $500 amp without checking.

BestBuy fried an amp of mine and said it wasnt their fault.

the problem was that the power wire to the battery terminal was barely screwed in and kept coming out while i was driving. i guess a loose power wire wont screw up an amp
